Un promoteur prévoit ériger un immeuble à copropriétés de huit étages aux portes du Vieux-Québec, dans le quartier Saint-Jean-Baptiste.

Norplex veut construire 82 copropriétés à la place du stationnement situé à l'angle de l'avenue Honoré-Mercier et de la rue d'Aiguillon.

Le promoteur espère obtenir les permis nécessaires pour commencer l'hiver prochain les travaux de son projet baptisé « Europa ».

Le président de Norplex, Yves Doyon, promet une vue exceptionnelle. « C'est un site qui bénéficie d'une vue à couper le souffle sur la ville de Québec. On voit jusqu'à l'île d'Orléans, on voit le fleuve, c'est très, très joli comme endroit, extrêmement exposé, donc ça va être l'entrée de la ville par l'autoroute Dufferin », souligne-t-il.

Pour ne pas gâcher l'entrée du Vieux-Québec, la Ville a adopté une réglementation particulière l'année dernière, indique Marie-Christine Magnan, porte-parole à la Ville de Québec. « En fait, ce qu'on veut, c'est que ce soit bien intégré au patrimoine actuel », dit-elle.

Le comité populaire Saint-Jean-Baptiste appréhende aussi l'augmentation de la circulation automobile dans ce secteur.

L'immeuble comprendra deux commerces au rez-de-chaussée et le prix des copropriétés variera de 250 000 $ à 800 000 $.
